About Charles Ughele

Charles develops FDI/trade practice opportunities in the vibrant West Africa market.  He was Special Adviser (Public-Private Partnerships) to the Minister of Infrastructure in Nigeria, and co-ordinated alternative financing programmes for the development of road infrastructure – most notably the Second Niger bridge linking Anambra and Delta states, and the expansion and reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

During his 20 years in the Nigerian financial services sector, Charles was Assistant General Manager/Head of Facility and Projects for Access Bank Plc and directed its branch expansion programmes.  He also served Access Bank as Regional Head Commercial Banking, with responsibility for business development, credit and relationship management.

  • Divisional Head Banking Operations at IMB International Bank Plc, Nigeria.
  • Branch Manager at other banks across Nigeria.

Charles has frequently advised on the risks of overdependence on natural resources as a continual challenge.  He is a strong advocate of FDI as an instrument for economic diversification and refocusing for sustainable growth and development, especially in maturing economies.

His fellowships and associations include The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Institute of Management.
